https://open.spotify.com/episode/4UagVw8w8Blohx0zXNX2ZF?si=l2Vyc3kgQOyybmTA4jzfgw   This podcast I found on Spotify. It’s titled 4 Tips For Better Communication by The Mindset Mentor. Which I thought was really fitting for this class since we have learned and talked so much about how communication can help us out so much. Creates better relationships and helps us learn and understand more about subjects, people and life.  The 4 tips:  Active Listening: "Yep, it's all about really tuning in. I mean, you've got two ears and one mouth, right? Let's listen twice as much as we speak! Be present and ask those killer open-ended questions". Non-Verbal Magic: "Ever noticed how our bodies speak without words? I'm spilling the beans on mastering this body language game. Open posture, eye contact - the works!" Tonality Tune-Up: "You won't believe how your tone can totally change things up. We're talking pitch, emotion, and that secret sauce that ke...

Social media has changed how we form opinions and talk to each other. It's like a big battlefield where everyone fights for attention and influence. With social media, information spreads super fast, and anyone can share their thoughts. This has made public opinion more democratic. But it also means that people can target specific groups with their messages. This can be good because it gives everyone a voice, but it can also lead to problems like spreading false information and making people more divided. Successful online campaigns often use emotional stories and get people involved by sharing their own experiences. One example is the #MeToo movement, which raised awareness about sexual harassment and assault. Controversial campaigns can be attention-grabbing, but they can also create conflict and make people more divided. W hen participating in this online battle, it's important to be honest, respectful, and think about the consequences of what we say. We should also consid...

Nike is known for its effective communication on its website and social media platforms. They use captivating visuals, engaging videos, and compelling storytelling to connect with their audience. Their website showcases their latest products, athlete endorsements, and inspiring campaigns. On social media, Nike shares motivational content, highlights athletes, and encourages community engagement. At the top of Nike's home page, you'll typically find the Nike logo, a search bar, and navigation options to explore different categories. In the middle, they showcase their latest products, campaigns, and collaborations, often with visually appealing images or videos. At the bottom, you'll find links to additional information such as customer support, store locators, and company information. Nike organizes their website this way to provide easy navigation, highlight their key offerings, and provide essential information to their customers. In my opinion, it's an effective layou...

digital native

According to Prensky, the immigrant/native divide refers to the difference in technology usage and digital skills between those who grew up with technology (the natives) and those who adopted it later in life (the immigrants). This divide can affect how students learn as natives may have a more intuitive understanding and comfort with technology, while immigrants may face challenges in adapting to and utilizing digital tools in their learning. It's important for educators to bridge this divide and provide support to all students in developing digital literacy skills.   The immigrant/native divide and its effect on different generations can be significant. Younger generations who are considered natives, having grown up with technology, often have a natural affinity and proficiency with digital tools. They tend to integrate technology seamlessly into their daily lives and learning experiences. On the other hand, older generations, the immigrants, may face challenges in adapting ...

knapps relational model

knapps relation model shows us different ways on how we build relationships, maintain and how they sometimes can fall apart. Social media, distance, time, ect. all play a part in how our relationships go. I have had many relationships with friends, family and lovers who have came together and ended there or still in that maintenance spot and coming apart. I don't see one as the hardest or easiest for me they all have their challenges that come along with building a relationship and they all have there moments of ease.  Im going to talk about the relationship I have with my sister. She is 22 and I am 20 and we didn't get close till about 2 years ago. Its crazy to think how you can live with someone your whole life and not be friends or on good terms. We had good moments of course but most of the time we had hatred towards each other ver dumb little stuff and I believe that's because of how much...

When it comes to the ideal number of "friends" on Facebook, it's not necessarily about the quantity, but more about the quality of those connections. Research suggests that having meaningful and supportive relationships on social media can have positive effects on mental health. However, having a large number of superficial connections or experiencing negative interactions can be detrimental. As for the factors that influence whether Facebook has negative or positive effects, it can vary from person to person. Some factors that may contribute to negative influences, like links with depression, include excessive social comparison, cyberbullying, and feelings of isolation. On the other hand, positive results, like boosts in self-esteem, can be influenced by factors such as receiving social support, positive feedback, and engaging in uplifting content. It's important to remember that everyone's experience with social media is unique, and individual factors, such as p...

About Me

Image
Hello everyone! my name is Kinzy Bowen and I am a 20yr old student athlete here at Oregon State University. I currently live in Corvallis, Oregon but I am originally from a small town in Eastern Oregon called La Grande. I am working towards figuring out my degree and which major I would like to pursue. I came to college starting out in the business degree but unfortunately I got injured and broke my knee playing softball and could no longer go to my in person business classes so I changed my major. I am still recovering from my injury a year later and trying to get back into playing my sport. I don't get a lot of free time because I'm always busy doing physical therapy and practice but when I do I love going to the beach or the mountains. An interesting fact about myself is that my friends and family call me Trey because that was supposed to be my name until my parents found out I was a girl.  I would like to learn about the behind the scenes type of stuff that goes into soci...
